Just A Quick One To Answer Luke's question about the skip from mk3 to mk5. the sl-1200 mk4 was released in 1996 and were an update to the mk2's although it was only available to the japanese and asian markets. they featured a 78rpm selector, titanum tonearm and female rca connections and grd knob (see: http://www.turntabletech.com/menu_item_10sl1200mk4.htm) so then, why did they skip mk3? =) well the origional mk3 was released in 1982 in limited quantities but was discontinued since it didn't sell well. basically it was an mk2 with a slightly stronger motor. there are literally only hundreds (if that) in existance. the mk3 we all know is actually the mk3d...heh, just to keep you all updated on your technics history. anyway, back on topic, i had a go on my mates new mk5's and i really like them, they "feel" a lot nicer to work with. and the pricing isn't that bad either, my mk2's just dont seem the same anymore =(

Couple Of Things, 1. Mk1 Mk2 Mk3 And Err Mk5? 2. Instead Of Chanmging Colours That Dont Really Matter To The Technics User, Why Don't they include adjustable stopping times to the brake which would be far more usefull to a proper dj instead of someone who spends £400 on a turntable 'because they prefer blue to red' 3. perhaps a easier way of mounting the cartridges? it's a pain in the arse. saying all that, there still technics, there still and always will be the industry standard. invest today! thats all i have to say. i doubt youll print this as i've not said how good they are but hey, its an opinion.

Technics Have Done It Again!! The Mk5 Does Look And Feel A Lot Better Than Any Models Before It, But After The Mk3 I Would Have Thought The Upgrades Would Be More Significant. There Really Isnt That Much Of A Difference. But At The End Of The Day, Its All About Looks. With Technics Reliability And The Look Of The Mk5, You Really Wont Find A Better Piece Of Kit! Well Worth Investing In!!
